Container for beer bottle and cansin ceramic made by hand with the Raku technique.

When pre-chilled, the beer cooler keeps drinks cold much longer.

Material : ceramic with various colors glaze

Dimensions  : Ø 12 x H 15 cm approximately

The Raku ceramic technique comes from the Japanese island of the same name Raku. According to some estimates, pottery making in the region dates back over 13,000 years. This ancient technique owes its particularity to the second firing, when the incandescent pieces are cooled with combustible material which, by reducing oxygen, allows the metal enamels to create unique and unrepeatable chromatic effects.li.

All the vases have a similar shape and decoration, but they are different from each other, because when an object is made entirely by hand, the result is a unique piece.

Barbara Jaccard is a ceramist.

She was born in Vevey on November 25, 1961. At the age of 8 she arrived in Ticino. She lives with my husband and 3 children in a small Malcantone farm, in Nerocco, a hamlet in the municipality of Bedigliora. After following several stages on modeling techniques, preparation of glazes and cooking methods, in the nineties, she specialized in the art of lathe by attending the atelier of the ceramist Ueli Wengen for 2 years. The practice of ceramic becomes more and more intense, so much so that he decides to buy a lathe and oven and make it his profession.

In his laboratory he continuously experiments with new forms on the lathe or by modeling them by hand, often using stoneware, which he prefers for its hardness and stony appearance. New glazes, new cooking methods and special surface preparations make this profession a true passion that moves and changes with the rhythm of new discoveries.

In addition to the various students who come to his atelier, he teaches in adult courses in the canton of Ticino and in some elementary schools in the Malcantone.
